Wool Spinning Mill Huttwil

Bordering on the legendary Emmental region is the parish of Huttwil, surrounded by hills,  which afford a wonderful view of the tops of the mountains Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. Since 1959 woollen yarn has  been spun here in Huttwil for the carpet industry.
As time went on, in addition to producing high quality carpetyarns for the home and contract busi-ness, non-inflammable yarns were developed for airplane carpets. We are proud that for decades now these yarns from Huttwil have flown around the world.

Since 2008 Wool Spinning Mill Huttwil is a subsidiary of Lantal Textiles Ltd, which with its production of textiles and its service is a world leading company in airplane furnishings, also increasing passenger comfort in trains and buses.

The Huttwil yarns and ply yarns are used to produce wilton carpets, tufted carpets, hand tufted carpets and hand woven carpets which are important furnishing elements in apartments, offices, airplanes, rail carriages, public buildings and cruise ships. They muffle sound, are nonslip, soft, warm and help people suffering from allergies in that they absorb dust.

The Wool Spinning Mill Huttwil Ltd is your partner for the development and production of woollen yarn for carpet production. All process steps from the development, stock dying through to winding the yarn in the desired format are under one roof where decision making is quick and made through experience..

The Wool Spinning Mill Huttwil places great value on using high quality wool. We have in stock about a dozen different qualities of wool originating from New Zealand, Europe and Latin America. These are mixed according to the product requirements. We give the highest priority to the purchase and quality control of these wools, because only then can we ensure the manufacture of a high quality product. Sheep’s wool is a very versatile product of nature, which regulates its own humidity, is pleasant to the touch and difficult to ignite –  simply fantastic.

Our wastewater drainage is regularly checked according to swiss regulations, and our own inspection techniques exceed these. With our own water purification and in close cooperation with the water protection authority we exercise care for the environment in which we live. We also do this thanks to reclaiming heat energy resulting from colouring processes and our re-use of our warm water. Thanks to our extensive investments to reduce CO2  - emissions and optimising our energy efficiency we have in recent years always met the CO2  - reduction objective.

Wool spinning is our handicraft. Stock dyeing is our passion. In Huttwil, we dye flakes in hundreds of colours every year, whereby we concentrate fully on the exact reproduction of recurring colours and on creating blending effects.
Our own stock dyeing department working hand in hand with the spinning department is  decisive for optical quality and the chemical characteristics of the end products.
We are able to produce coloured flakes in batches of up to 8’000 kg. Here each fibre is only coloured, and subjected to chemical reaction, once.

As one of the few woollen yarn spinning mills we offer the speciality of yarns and ply yarns with the System Periloc. Fulled yarns are felted yarns forming a closed surface, and have a distinctively longer life.
